This "off the beaten track" adventure takes us over rarely visited paramo, sparsely populated with Quechua speaking Llama farmers.
Rolling green hills and peaks jutting up from nowhere, surround the tiny village of Zumbahua. Hiking opportunities are plentiful in this spectacular area. This trip will feature a hike around the rim of Quilotoa's Volcanic Crater Lake.
In addition, we will visit to one of Ecuador's most colourful, traditional markets.
Parque Nacional Machalilla

Parque Nacional Machalilla is Ecuador's only coastal national park. There are over 200 species of birds, including coastal parrots, parakeets, pelicans, boobies, frigate birds. You will also see deer, howler monkeys, anteaters, and a variety of snakes, lizards and iguanas.
Isla de La Plata - This small island is protected within the park. Here you can see red billed tropic birds, boobies, sea lions, sea turtles, albatrosses, and long tailed mockingbirds. After walking around the island, you can explore the coral reefs, snorkelling or diving.
July, August and early October are the best times to see the Humpback Whales.

Cycle "La Ruta de las Cascadas" (Highways of the Waterfalls). Along this ride you will enjoy some of the best views of the Amazon Basin while passing a dozen waterfalls. We will stop to view Ecuador’s most famous falls, the spectacular Pailon del Diablo (Devil’s Cauldron). Combine this day trip with a trekking adventure.

This challenging excursion takes us through small rural villages along traditional trade routes used since the pre-Inca times. Piedra Blanca is a small community of approximately 20 families scattered throughout the forested valley in the western foot of the Andes. In Piedra Blanca we will spend a day exploring waterfalls, lagoons, and towering white cliffs. After trekking to Salinas, we will visit the co-operative factories famous for producing cheese, salami, chocolate and rough spun sweaters.

From Achupallas trek the Inca road to Ingaprica, Ecuador’s most important Inca ruin. Experience Andean rural life, trekking on part of the ancient Inca road which originally extended over 5,000 kilometres from Quito to Talca, Chile. We will explore the Inca ruin at the end of our trek.

Atillo to Achupallas is far off the beaten track. This spectacular area, rarely visited by outsiders, has beautiful lakes, alpine peaks and opportunities for bird watching and exploring.

Paramo - Ande's high altitude grasslands and scrublands, characterized by dense thickets of small trees. The Polyepis species of tree is most common in the paramo, being on of the highest growing trees in the world. The plant life, grasses and trees found here have adapted to the harsh highland environment. Specialized habitat unique to the neo-tropics is found only in the area beginning from the highlands of Costa Rica to Northern Peru.
